Premature Arrival, Baby Martha - Newborn shoot on location

I first met this tiny bundle, with a very cross face, a few years ago when I was living and working in Sheffield. I was invited by her mum to take some precious first photos and I’m still chuffed to this day that I did because I’ve now watched that tiny cross faced micro bundle blossom into the most beautiful little girl.

My first impressions on walking into that little hospital room were that I was possibly seeing the tiniest baby I’ve ever seen and I was in awe. I couldn’t believe something this tiny could be a functioning little being without too many tubes and wires. Ok, I was late to the party and she’d had her fair share of wires on arrival into the world, but just days on from this time she was doing it all on her own. A proper little fighter.

The photos I got were more documentary in style due to time and location. I was mainly focused on getting some beautiful photos that showed how tiny she was at this moment in time and most importantly some precious photos of her with mum. We saved the rest for the next shoot we did with the family at home.

I’ve done many shoots with Martha, her parents and little sister over the years but these photos will always hold a special place in my heart.
